STMicroelectronics Silicon Carbide AB is located in Norrköping, Sweden and is ST’s competence centre in silicon carbide material technology. The company has been developing silicon carbide (SiC) for 20 years, first at Linköping University, and since 2006 in a dedicated production facility in Norrköping.

We develop and pilot produce SiC wafers for ST’s markets, e,g. for energy efficient SiC power devices used in the on-going electrification of the automotive industry. We operate a 2000 m2 facility with equipment running 24 x 7.

 

Job description

As a member of the R&D and Process Engineering team, you will work towards an expert role in silicon carbide crystal growth. You will also work with material characterization and with process improvements in pilot production. In your daily work, you will have a close interaction with Process and Development engineers, together with the Production and Maintenance teams as implementing solutions often requires team work.

 

In this role, you will work with both applied R&D and process engineering tasks and:

- contribute to development projects aiming either at developing new products or at enhancing the yield, cost and throughput of existing crystal growth processes

- design, organize, run and analyze crystal growth process improvements

- run validation series and monitor key process parameters, improve procedures, work instructions or equipment to enhance efficiency and quality

- perform practical work such as equipment optimization, machining of parts, material characterization

- carry out process simulation, design parts, analyze scientific literature

- collaborate into transferring processes to pilot production

- interact with external suppliers and internal customers

Profile

Qualifications:
· MSc or PhD in Materials Science & Engineering, Physics, Chemical Engineering or related field

· Fluent in Swedish and English for professional use

· Preferably at least 2 years professional experience relevant to this position.

 

We are looking for candidates with some of the following competences:

· Experience in semiconductors or solid state inorganic materials development or engineering (experience in crystal growth, thin film deposition or coating is a merit)

· Experience, and a genuine interest, in deposition techniques and equipment for semiconductors or ceramics,

Hands on mechanical skills or vacuum technology knowledge
· Computational skills towards technical drawings (CAD) and/or thermal modeling,

· Data interpretation and analysis skills

· Scientific publications or patents are a merit
