STMicroelectronics has an opportunity for a Quantum Film Process  Engineer for our Fremont, CA office.  The Quantum Film Process Engineer will design, develop, and characterize inorganic quantum dots and thin film devices for consumer application.

Design, develop and characterize inorganic quantum dots for consumer application.
Fabrication of inorganic films using thin film deposition techniques, assess device performance and corelate with material properties
Design and analyze experiments for material and chemistry development related to inorganic quantum dots-based ink formulation (inorganic/organic/ hybrid)
Perform failure analysis on material and devices to support process development and product release.
Lead the in-house quality control (IPQC and OQC) and develop/improve QC methodology for incoming and outgoing materials, process etc.
Work with the integration team on process transfer to high volume manufacturing and process troubleshooting.
Work with supplier and industrial/academic collaborators on new material and process development.
File relevant patent applications.



  •  Bachelor's Degree (Master's degree preferred) with 3-6 years of relevant industrial / research labs (R&D) work experience. Ph.D. in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent preferred.
    In-depth knowledge and experience (3+ years) in inorganic quantum dot synthesis, ligand exchange process, ink formulation, and coatings processes (spin coating, spray coating, blade coating, inkjet, etc.) for optoelectronic applications.
    Experience in materials characterization and chemical analysis techniques (SEM, XRD, NMR, GC, photoluminescence, TGA, DSC, FT-IR, UV/Vis, etc.)
    Understanding of optical (surface traps, defects, carrier lifetime) and material properties and characterization techniques relevant to device performance.
    Experience with geographically separated teamwork.
    Excellent analytical, problem solving and communication skills.
    Programming skills (MATLAB, Python, C/C++) are plus.
    International travel may be required.
