THE ACTIVITIES

We are looking for a candidate willing to work in the field of Product/ Failure Analysis as a junior engineer. Failure analyst is like a detective who has to solve a challenging rebus, performing complex activities of analysis on electronic devices showing a failure, a state in which the IC does not meet requirements expected by ST
customers, being outside specifications.

The candidate will be responsible for:

- being owner and leader of the full failure analysis flow
- collecting all data necessary to solve the problem
- reproduction at bench lab of failure trough usage of several hardware and tools (power supplies, test equipment, LCV meters...)

- fault isolation through advanced lab equipment based on photon emission, laserstimulation, thermal emission…)
- analysis of fault isolation results inside the IC, through design CAD navigation driving destructive analysis aimed at identification of the defect/ damage

- Physical analysis through state of the art equipment as Plasma FIB, SEM, elemental and material analysis

- Being strongly involved in problem solving flow joining crisis team, meeting with internal and external customers, continuous brainstorming with all involved technical experts (product Engineers, designers, application engineers, FAB quality, program managers, reliability engineers…).

The position allows to see all the steps of an IC fabrication, from the design phase to the manufacturing steps, growing competencies in product design, package and silicon manufacturing process.

The person will work in a team, in close collaboration with the people of it, in a context of Failure Analysis network, present at local level, in Castelletto site, but also at international level, within STM but also outside the company.

The location is Castelletto, within AMS Q&R group, Advanced Product Analysis team.

 

 

Profile

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a person with a degree in electronic engineering, with the following skills/ attitudes:

- Strong perseverance, patience and orientation to reach the goal: you have to try and try again new possible solution, never give up!
- Critical spirit, put every data in discussion, never believe in obvious solution
- High dose of curiosity and creativity: it’s a big help to reach the results! And also funny and exciting…
- Good relation and team work skills: you’ll have the need to continuously brainstorm with your team and other team colleagues.
- Really passionate and keen both on physical analysis and electronics. Being motivate in working in laboratories showing worldwide state of the art equipment and techniques.

Basic knowledge requirements:

- Office 365

- Good English, oral and written.

- Fluent Italian.
